MNYAC Represents at Youth Rally Day at the Capitol!

On Thursday March 5, 2009, members of the Minnesota Youth Advisory Council (MNYAC) represented the Minnesota Alliance With Youth and their home communities at the state capitol for Youth Rally Day! Youth Rally Day was sponsored by the Youth Policy Alliance, of which the Minnesota Alliance With Youth is a member (other organizations which make up YPA include the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota, Youth Community Connections, Youth Intervention Programs Association, Workforce Development, Lutheran Social Services, and others).

MNYAC members Rachelle Jenson (Duluth); Jeff Jakubic (Robbinsdale); Sagal Ali, Jiccarra Hollman, and Trice Jones (Minneapolis); Fayise Abraham and Susie Murillo (Worthington); and Josh Wood, Briseiry Bermudez, and Zaret Calderon (Northfield) all attended Youth Rally Day. Adult sponsors for MNYAC were Faaria Husain, Andrew Mahoney, and Em Westerlund.

The youth participated in a kick-off rally in the morning, heard local representatives address rally participants in the capitol rotunda, and spent the rest of the day educating state representatives about youth development programs and educational opportunities needed for youth.
